Other than the early/late late show, one of the big influences down my road of b/low budget/cult movie love was the 1977 edition of “The Book of List” ed. By Irving Wallace.  This book was an outgrowth of Wallace’s “People’s Almanac”, which those of us of a certain vintage may remember.

In “The Book of List’s” section regarding movies Misters Medved and Dreyfuss, credited as authors of “The Fifty Worst Films of All Time” (never read), provided an alphabetical list of their 10 worst films of all time.  The list mesmerized me as a kid, and, finding the book again, I thought I would share that list.  How many have you seen?

Che! (1969)  Seen. Omar Sharif and Jack Palance as Guevara and Castro, how did that not work?

The Conqueror (1956) Not seen. John Wayne as Genghis Kahn.  Producer Howard Hughes is said to have watched this film over and over along with Ice Station Zebra.

The Horror of Party Beach (1956) Seen riffed and unriffed.  Probably the most disappointing bad movie of my life.  Love the Del-Aires music.  (also, I need to get off this Del-Aires kick I’ve been on.  Del-Aires.)

Lost Horizon (1973) Not seen. A musical remake of a Frank Capra film.

Myra Breckinridge (1970) Seen. Like a John Waters film, without the wit or taste.

Robot Monster (1953) Seen riffed and unriffed.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) Seen riffed and unriffed.

Solomon and Sheba (1959) Not seen. No interest in a King Vidor directed biblical epic.  Was a money maker, unlike most of the movies on this list.

The Terror of Tiny Town (1938) Seen.  Midget.  Musical.  Western.  If you have any love of cult movies, you must see too.

That Hagan Girl (1947) Not seen. Ronald Reagan detested the role and considered it the worst film he ever did.  And this man was in Bedtime for Bonzo.
